YELLOWSTONE PACK TRIP & BUFFALO ROUNDUP TRIP
We just received word from Rapid City outfitter/guide Bob Lantis about the availability of a horse packing trip into the back country of Yellowstone National Park this summer. The dates would be:
August 7-10 and/or August 20-23
This Yellowstone trip into the Lamar Valley is awesome. Daytime fishing and horseback rides, wildlife sightings, nights of song and poetry around the campfire, definitely an experience to remember for years to come. Bob has done similar trips with Michael Martin Murphy, Red Steagall Brenn Hill and others. We’d love to have you join us if possible. Cost of the Yellowstone trip is $1200 for 4 days.
Bob has been guiding and outfitting for over 30 years, is licensed and experienced. We have been on one Yellowstone trip with him in 2004 and had a great time. If you can’t schedule a summer trip, consider another one of Bob’s trips which we will be going on, the Black Hills Buffalo Round Up that takes place Sept. 29 - Oct 2nd. Spend three or four days riding through the beautiful Black Hills as the leaves are turning and then watch from a safe distance as chosen riders round up 1300 head of wild buffalo. Morning breakfasts with campfire coffee, saddling’ up and ridin’ the trail to Mount Rushmore, evening dinners sitting around the campfire with music and poetry from Bob, Open Range and others, there’s just nothing like it.
This would be a great opportunity for a family reunion, or just a trip with a group of friends, or just join us for a trip with other “Open Range” fans! If you think you’d be interested in one of these trips, send us an email or give us a call 406-222-3007, 888-349-3007 as soon as possible to let us know which dates you would be interested in. There is a limit of eight guests for each of the Yellowstone trips and we don’t know how long they’ll be available. See below for payment details.

Yellowstone National Park is one of the few remaining wild places in the Continental United States. In past years we have seen elk, deer, antelope, coyotes, wolves, bald eagles, moose, buffalo, black bear, grizzly bear, and even picket pins, their name was given by the cavalry –small prairie dogs.
This trip will be in the North East Corner of the Park along the Lamar River and it's tributaries. This four day adventure will start at the Lamar River Trail Head and head south to our camp which is about 5 hours riding time.
This area received extensive damage during the 88 fire and it was for the better. There is more grass and we can now see waterfalls and petrified forests that we didn't even know existed prior to the fire. The beauty of this area is spectacular.
Of course, there will be some great opportunities for photography, Cutthroat trout fishing, lots of horseback riding and to cap it all off who's going to be riding with us? None other than Ric & Linda of "Open Range", who will be singing all those favorite songs of the Old West around the campfire each night.
All that you need to bring for this adventure of a lifetime is your sleeping bag, and personal gear, ie: Clothes, toiletries, rain gear, etc. The food, tents, good horses, awesome scenery and entertainment by Ric & Linda will be furnished.
Don't miss out on this excellent chance to just get loose and set your spirit free to roam at will. The price for this experience is $1200.00 per person. A 50% deposit is required to hold your reservation. Cash, personal checks, cashiers checks, and money orders accepted. The balance due 30 days prior to your departure date.
